Resumo: In order to effectively understand a curve and the phenomenon it portrays, Raymond Duval proposes to sketch function curves from the approach of global interpretation of figural properties, which consists of identifying significant units in the graphic and algebraic representation of the curve and articulating them. them. Anchored in this approach, an alternative way to sketch curves that uses as a resource of articulation between significant units the instantaneous rate of variation of the function calculated and understood from the notion of infinitesimal, replacing the idea of ​​derivative that is a subject of higher education, is displayed and tracked. In addition to making it possible to understand the relationship between the variation of the function and the curve sketch, it was found that polynomials of the second and third degrees proved to be convenient for the study, since the calculations implemented in the execution of activities in the sketch of curves are within reach. of students at this level of education.

Ancorado nessa abordagem, um caminho alternativo para esboçar curvas que utiliza como recurso de articulação entre unidades significativas a taxa de variação instantânea da função calculada e compreendida a partir da noção de infinitésimo, em substituição à ideia de derivada, que é um assunto do ensino superior, é apresentado e trilhado.
