Resumo: The present article refers to an investigation done with students of the fourth year (third grade) of Elementary School, in which is proposed and executed in loco a didactical sequel for the study of water’s physical state change. Based on David Ausubel’s theory of Meaningful Learning, it is considered in the study, the references in debate among the current scientific community, specially the process of scientific literacy. Four meetings were held in a class of twenty-one students in a public school in the city of Passo Fundo, RS. Data collection occurred through drawings and fill reports previously structured by researchers. The results are organized in three categories determined by the issues discussed in the activities and by the physics knowledge involved. Such results show the importance and potential of the developed activities, highlighting three aspects: the rescue of previous knowledge in order to built a new one; the importance of relating the knowledge with student’s real life experiences, so it is potentially meaningful to them; and the motivational matter as a mainspring of knowledge building.
