Wittgenstein's therapy in an analysis of theoretical references for teaching Algebra

Resumo: This text is part of my thesis in which I sought to use Wittgenstein's therapy, proposed for an analysis of the teaching of algebra. In the thesis, I analyzed texts and documents, dissertations and theses and identified theoretical references that addressed the teaching of algebra most used in researchs. These works represent the theoretical standard used in research on algebra teaching in Brazil and in this sense can be therapeutically analyzed in the light of Wittgenstein's philosophy. The references are supported by theories based on essentialist and referential conceptions, and generally point to an essence between algebra and other areas of knowledge and place language in a just referential role. There is also an alignment of algebraic thinking and the proposal to anticipate algebra via arithmetic, placing algebra with an extralinguistic nature. I argue that there is a relationship between algebra and arithmetic, but this is not clear to anyone who has not had access to parts of algebra.

En la tesis analicé textos y documentos, disertaciones y tesis e identifiqué referencias teóricas que abordan la enseñanza del álgebra más utilizada en la investigación. Estos trabajos representan el estándar teórico utilizado en la investigación sobre la enseñanza del álgebra en Brasil y en este sentido pueden ser analizados terapéuticamente a la luz de la filosofía de Wittgenstein. Las referencias se sustentan en teorías basadas en concepciones esencialistas y referenciales, y generalmente apuntan a una esencia entre el álgebra y otras áreas del conocimiento y colocan al lenguaje en un rol meramente referencial. También hay una alineación del pensamiento algebraico y la propuesta de anticipar el álgebra a través de la aritmética, colocando el álgebra con un carácter extralingüístico. Sostengo que existe una relación entre el álgebra y la aritmética, pero esto no está claro para cualquiera que no haya tenido acceso a partes del álgebra.Este texto é parte de minha tese de doutorado em que busquei utilizar a terapia de Wittgenstein, proposta para uma análise do ensino de álgebra. Na tese realizei análise de textos, documentos, dissertações e teses. Identifiquei referenciais teóricos que abordavam o ensino de álgebra mais utilizados nas pesquisas. Estas obras representam o padrão teórico utilizado nas pesquisas sobre ensino da álgebra no Brasil e por isso serão analisadas terapeuticamente à luz da filosofia de Wittgenstein. Os referenciais estão apoiados em teorias baseadas em concepções essencialista e referencial, pois geralmente apontam para uma essência entre álgebra e outras áreas do conhecimento e colocam a linguagem em um papel apenas referencial. Também se percebe um alinhamento sobre o pensamento algébrico e a proposta de antecipação da álgebra via aritmética, colocando a álgebra com uma natureza extralinguística.
