Teachers strike 2012, or when the bases lost patience: the experience at UFG

In the wake of the 10 years of what was the biggest teacher strike of the Brazilian Federal Education Institutions (IFE), this essay, of an essayist nature, proposes to problematic it, in terms of its consequences in the organization of teachers, in light of REUNI at the Federal University of Goiás, with particular interest in its countryside campuses, especially the Goiás campus. For that, we used bibliographic and documentary research and the empirical experience of strikes by the authors themselves. This study allowed the verification of the deleterious effects of REUNI, mainly on the countryside campuses, and the strike as a catalyst and driving factor of the teaching movement, especially the union opposition at UFG. In this way, it is understood that such a program (REUNI) can only be understood and analyzed in its contradictory dynamics of precarious expansion and that the strike continues as an important instrument of working class struggles, including fractions not directly linked to the sphere of production.
