Resumo: This work aims to propose a reflection on curation in the performing arts and the role of the curator in his/her professional practice in contemporary times, considering artistic actions in the Brazilian context. A historical path is presented, covering a trajectory in the context of modern arts, when the profession is established with the current characteristics. Then, critical perspectives on the role of the curator are elaborated, analyzing the attributions necessary for the creation of a program in performing arts. Finally, the curator is conceived as a manager of expectations, being responsible for proposing debates about society and art itself, based on the relationship established between artist, work and public within a performing arts programming.

Se presenta un recorrido histórico, cubriendo una trayectoria en el contexto de las artes modernas, cuando la profesión se establece con las características actuales. Luego, se elaboran perspectivas críticas sobre el rol de la curadora o del curador, analizando las atribuciones necesarias para la creación de un programa en artes escénicas. Finalmente, se discute la curadora o el curador como gestora / gestor de expectativas, responsable por proponer debates sobre la sociedad y el arte, a partir de la relación que se establece entre artista, obra y público dentro de una programación de artes escénicas.Este trabalho tem por objetivo propor uma reflexão sobre a curadoria nas artes cênicas e o papel da/do curadora/curador na sua prática profissional na contemporaneidade, considerando ações artísticas no contexto brasileiro. Apresenta-se um percurso histórico, percorrendo uma trajetória no contexto das artes modernas, quando a profissão se estabelece com as características atuais. Em seguida, elaboram-se perspectivas críticas sobre a função da curadora ou do curador, analisando as atribuições necessárias para a criação de uma programação em artes cênicas.
