Popular culture and heritage: voices from the sea and the mountain echo

Resumo: The occupation and appropriation of urban space, in the artistic and aesthetic field, are configured in a plural and multifaceted way; proving, more and more, the power of space as a field open to experimentation. To broaden this dialogue, this article aims to reflect on some issues that underlie these initiatives that use heritage in its multiple dimensions - both material and immaterial -, and the interrelationships with the actions and knowledge of popular culture. As a background, the works carried out in two different contexts will be analyzed, however, with similar characteristics regarding the relations between art, city and heritage: Coletivo Cantareira, which is a community movement committed to continuing some traditions and singularities of Ilha de Paquetá, RJ, and the Grupo de Teatro São Gonçalo do Bação made up by residents of the rural district of São Gonçalo do Bação, in the city of Itabirito-MG, which, due to its artistic and cultural dynamics, constitutes itself as a group of Theater and Community.

Para ampliar este diálogo, este artículo tiene como objetivo reflexionar sobre algunas cuestiones que subyacen en estas iniciativas que utilizan el patrimonio en sus múltiples dimensiones, tanto materiales como inmateriales, y las interrelaciones con los haceres y saberes de la cultura popular y ciudad. Como prácticas, fueran analizados los trabajos realizados en dos contextos diferentes, pero con características similares en cuanto a la relación entre arte, ciudad y patrimonio: el Colectivo Cantareira, que es un movimiento comunitario comprometido con dar continuidad a algunas tradiciones y singularidades da Ilha de Paquetá, RJ, y el Grupo de Teatro São Gonçalo do Bação, integrado por vecinos del distrito rural de São Gonçalo do Bação, en la ciudad de Itabirito-MG, que, por su dinámica artística y cultural, se constituye como un grupo de Teatro y Comunidad.A ocupação e a apropriação do espaço urbano, no campo artístico e estético, se configuram de maneira plural e multifacetada, comprovando, cada vez mais, a potência do espaço como um campo aberto à experimentação. Para ampliar esse diálogo, este artigo visa refletir sobre algumas questões que subjazem a essas iniciativas que se utilizam do patrimônio em suas múltiplas dimensões - tanto material como imaterial, e as inter-relações com os fazeres e saberes da cultura popular e cidade.
