Actresses in the amateur theater of São Luís in the first half of the 20th century

Resumo: The objective of this article was to highlight names and profiles of actresses from the São Luís amateur theater of the early 20th century. This theme was supported by the absence of records of women's names in the city's dramatic societies between 1901 and 1919, observed in the local press. Contrary to the context prior to 1920, from then onwards there is a diffusion, in local newspapers, of the names of amateur actresses. Who and what were the scenic profiles of the actresses who challenged social dogmas and stood out on the stages of the São Luís amateur theater at the beginning of the 20th century? These names lost in the history of São Luís theater were listed based on documentary research centered on newspapers of the time, since there is a hiatus in this theme until then. The introductory character of this record is in line with the macro problem verified in several fields of knowledge, which try to recover a memory or image supplanted in History, by gender interests and moral perspectives.

Ese tema fue sustentado por la ausencia de registros de nombres de mujeres en las sociedades dramáticas de la ciudad entre 1901 y 1919, observada en la prensa local. Contrariamente al contexto anterior a 1920, a partir de entonces hay una difusión, en los periódicos locales, de nombres de actrices amateurs. ¿Quiénes y cuáles fueron los perfiles escénicos de las actrices que desafiaron los dogmas sociales y se destacaron en los escenarios del teatro amateur de São Luís a principios del siglo XX? Estos nombres perdidos en la historia del teatro São Luís fueron catalogados a partir de una investigación documental centrada en periódicos de la época; ya que hay un hiato en este tema hasta entonces. El carácter introductorio de este registro está en consonancia con el problema macro verificado en varios campos del saber, que intentan recuperar una memoria o una imagen suplantada en la Historia, por intereses de género y perspectivas morales.Objetivou-se com este artigo evidenciar nomes e perfis de atrizes do teatro amador de São Luís do começo do século XX. Essa temática se amparou na ausência de registros de nomes de mulheres nas sociedades dramáticas da cidade entre os anos de 1901 e 1919, observada na imprensa local. Contrário ao contexto anterior a 1920, a partir de então há uma difusão, nos jornais locais, de nomes de atrizes amadoras. Quem e quais eram os perfis cênicos das atrizes que desafiaram os dogmas sociais e se destacaram nos palcos do teatro amador de São Luís no começo do século XX? Esses nomes perdidos na história do teatro de São Luís foram arrolados a partir da pesquisa documental centrada nos jornais da época; uma vez que há um hiato neste tema até então.
