A mirror without reflection: The Purple Spot in Brazilian theater criticism

Resumo: In this article, we discuss the different metaphors used by the critical reception of the work The purple spot, by Plínio Marcos, when looking for its meaning in Brazil at the end of the 20th century, approaching the main keys of reading the text and the spectacle in the view of some of the main critics Brazilian theatricals active at the time of their staging. In the work, the author resumes the theme of life behind bars from the conflicts of a group of prisoners, also opting, this time, for the approach to AIDS. For that, we start from the discussion of Susan Sontag, in order to understand the more general scope of the problem raised by her reflection, by the criticism of the play and the show.

En la obra, el autor retoma el tema de la vida em prisión a partir de los conflictos de un grupo de mujeres, optando también, esta vez, por el enfoque del sida. Para ello, partimos de la discusión de Susan Sontag, para comprender el alcance más general del problema planteado por su reflexión, por la crítica de la obra y del espectáculo.Neste artigo discutimos as diferentes metáforas empregadas pela recepção crítica da obra A mancha roxa, de Plínio Marcos. Ao procurar seu sentido no Brasil do final do século XX, abordando as principais chaves de leitura do texto e do espetáculo na visão de alguns dos principais críticos teatrais brasileiros atuantes quando de sua encenação. Na obra, o autor retoma o tema da vida atrás das grades a partir dos conflitos de um grupo de presidiárias, optando também, dessa vez, pela abordagem da aids.
