Quality assessment using educational software: a study applied to SENAI/SC

Resumo: This work proposes a process to evaluate the quality in use of an educational software, based on the SENAI Methodology of Professional Education, the Scratch tool, which is the object under study; the NBR ISO/IEC standards for evaluation of software quality; and the TUP (Technology, Usability, and Pedagogy) methodology of evaluation in the context of SENAI/SC. This work considered the following premise/hypothesis: is it possible to determine the influence of educational software in the teaching-learning process by respecting the quality criteria of software in use in a class of programming concepts or introduction to computer programming? A quali-quantitative research was used to evaluate this influence. The questionnaires were made available to a group of students of the industrial learning course in informatics at SENAI of Rio do Sul/SC during the programming concepts classes. The research was applied between March/2015 and April/2015. Preliminary results show that the Scratch software is an attractive tool and motivates the student to perform tasks during the teaching and learning process. Another point that stands out is that Scratch is a great tool to support teachers, thus showing that a well-applied educational tool creates a greater integration between theory and practice, a premise that is indicated and determined in the professional education methodology of SENAI/SC.

Este trabajo consideró la siguiente premisa/hipótesis: ¿es posible determinar la influencia del software educativo en el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje respetando los criterios de calidad del software en uso en una clase de conceptos de programación o de introducción a la programación de computadoras? Para evaluar esta influencia, se utilizó una investigación cualitativa-cuantitativa. Los cuestionarios fueron puestos a disposición de un grupo de estudiantes del curso de aprendizaje industrial en informática del SENAI de Rio do Sul/SC durante las clases de conceptos de programación. La investigación se aplicó entre los períodos de marzo/2015 y abril/2015. Los resultados preliminares muestran que el software Scratch es una herramienta atractiva que motiva al estudiante a realizar tareas durante el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje. Otro punto que merece destaque es que el Scratch es una gran herramienta de apoyo a los docentes, mostrando de este modo que una herramienta educativa bien aplicada crea una mayor integración entre la teoría y la práctica, premisa que es indicada y determinada en la metodología de educación profesional del SENAI/SC.O presente trabalho propõe um processo para avaliar a qualidade em uso de um software educacional, tomando-se por base a Metodologia Senai de Educação Profissional, a ferramenta Scratch, que é o objeto em estudo, as normas NBR ISO/IEC para avaliação de qualidade de software e a metodologia de avaliação TUP (Tecnologia , Usabilidade e Pedagogia) no contexto do SENAI/SC. Este trabalho considerou a seguinte premissa/hipótese: é possível determinar a influência do software educacional no processo de ensino aprendizagem respeitando os critérios de qualidade de software em uso em uma aula de conceitos de programação ou introdução a programação de computadores? Para avaliar esta influência foi utilizada uma pesquisa quali-quantitativa. Os questionários foram disponibilizados para um grupo de alunos do curso de aprendizagem industrial em informática do SENAI de Rio do Sul/SC durante as aulas de conceitos de programação. A pesquisa foi aplicada entre os períodos de março/2015 e abril/2015. Resultados preliminares mostram que o software Scratch é uma ferramenta atrativa e que motiva o aluno para realizar tarefas durante o processo de ensino e aprendizagem.
