Clothing consumption: analysis of fast fashion and slow fashion consumer motivations

Resumo: | In the fashion industry, from fabric production to product disposal by the final consumer, there is environmental pollution. The wide variety of products, rapid trends and exaggerated consumption generate a great environmental impact. However, with the advancement of technology present in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, changes are taking place in the profile of consumers as they have more and more information about production processes and are aware of socio-environmental wear and tear. The aim of this study is to present the characteristics and profile of two types of fashion consumers: those who consume from slow fashion companies and those who opt for fast fashion companies, and to encourage sustainable consumption. To support the development of this research, a bibliographic survey will be carried out that will indicate characteristics of consumer behavior and the consumption of the fashion product. To complement the study, exploratory quantitative research will be carried out to know the profile of consumers and understand the motivations for consumption. With the development of the research, it is expected to understand the consumption motivations and, in this way, propose actions to motivate the sustainable consumption. |

La gran variedad de productos, las tendencias vertiginosas y el consumo exagerado generan un gran impacto ambiental. Sin embargo, con el avance de la tecnología presente en la Cuarta Revolución Industrial, se están produciendo cambios en el perfil de los consumidores, ya que cada vez cuentan con más información sobre los procesos productivos y son conscientes del desgaste socioambiental. El objetivo de este estudio es presentar las características y el perfil de dos tipos de consumidores de moda: los que consumen de empresas de moda lenta y los que optan por empresas de moda rápida, y fomentar el consumo sostenible. Para apoyar el desarrollo de esta investigación se realizará un levantamiento bibliográfico que indicará características del comportamiento del consumidor y el consumo del producto de moda. Para complementar el estudio, se realizará una investigación cuantitativa exploratoria para conocer el perfil de los consumidores y comprender las motivaciones de consumo. Con el desarrollo de la investigación, se espera comprender las motivaciones de consumo y, de esta manera, proponer acciones para motivar el consumo sostenible.Na indústria da moda, desde a produção do tecido até o descarte do produto feito pelo consumidor final, ocorre a poluição do meio ambiente. A grande variedade de produtos, as rápidas tendências e o consumo exagerado geram grande impacto ambiental. Entretanto, com o avanço da tecnologia presente na Quarta Revolução Industrial, estão ocorrendo mudanças no perfil dos consumidores na medida em que possuem cada vez mais informações sobre os processos de produção e têm consciência do desgaste socioambiental gerado. O objetivo deste estudo é apresentar as características e o perfil de dois tipos de consumidores de moda: os que consomem de empresas slow fashion e aqueles que optam pelas empresas fast fashion, dessa forma, visando motivar o consumo sustentável. Para embasamento do desenvolvimento desta pesquisa foi realizado um levantamento bibliográfico que indicou características do comportamento do consumidor e o consumo do produto de moda. Para complementar o estudo, foi realizada uma pesquisa quantitativa de caráter exploratório para conhecer o perfil dos consumidores e compreender as motivações de consumo.
