Resumo: The work of the artist Paulo Gaiad reveals narratives between fiction and biography, in plots that are woven by images and words, which tell a series of real and imaginary events, recorded by memory and reinvented by imagination, places, travels and landscapes. In this way, we intend to take a look at the narrative elements of the artist based on approximations and distances, with the hybrid creation process of the artistic languages, inserted in the contemporary scenario. Moreover, the narrative elements in the artist’s work are presented against the destruction of memory, present in the immediacy of daily life and in slavery imposed by work, which belongs to the very characteristic of experience in contemporary life.

Así, se pretende echar un vistazo a los elementos narrativos del artista desde aproximaciones y distancias, con el proceso de creación híbrida de lenguajes artísticos, insertados en el escenario contemporáneo. Además, los elementos narrativos en la obra del artista se oponen a la destrucción de la memoria, presente en la inmediatez de la vida cotidiana y la esclavitud impuesta por el trabajo, que pertenece a la característica de la experiencia en la vida contemporánea.A obra do artista Paulo Gaiad revela narrativas entre a ficção e a biografia, em tramas que são tecidas por imagens e palavras, que contam uma série de acontecimentos reais e imaginários, registrados pela memória e reinventados pela imaginação, sobre lugares, viagens e paisagens. Deste modo, pretende-se lançar um olhar sobre os elementos narrativos do artista a partir de aproximações e distanciamentos com as figuras de dois narradores oriundos de uma tradição oral, apresentados por Walter Benjamin, no ensaio o Narrador, com a figura do marinheiro viajante e do camponês sedentário. Esses narradores representam um período em que a transmissão do conhecimento se dava por uma experiência coletiva (Erfahrung), através do processo artesanal de trabalho.
