Resumo: This paper shows an examination of the experience performed with Visual Arts students at Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (Unesc) between 2013 and 2016, in “Engraving and Research” and “Screen Printing and Research” courses. The study purpose was to identify which subject students bring with their memories about their experiences at school relating to Arts course in basic education, as stories and images, intending to understand where the role of Arts course is, and which has been the role of engraving art regarding artistic languages, intending to understand qualification process for Arts education teaching profession. The study methodology was developed as a qualitative and artographic approach, based on visual productions and students’ memories/narratives. Data were collected through applicating a questionnaire. According to data analysis, we noticed that engraving is rarely mentioned as an artistic language developed at school, as it is emphasized drawing and painting. Thus, one may conclude that artistic languages, including printmaking poetics, need to be further developed in classrooms, and Art education needs to be appreciated with adequate spaces, as a source of sensitivity, empathy, and basic education qualification.

El objetivo de este estudio es identificar lo que los estudiantes traen en sus recuerdos sobre sus experiencias escolares relacionadas con la disciplina de las Artes en la educación básica, en forma de informes e imágenes, con el fin de comprender el lugar de la disciplina de las Artes y cuál ha sido el lugar del grabado con respecto a los lenguajes artísticos, con el fin de comprender el proceso de formación para la práctica docente en la enseñanza de las artes. En la metodología, el estudio en cuestión se desarrolló dentro de un enfoque cualitativo y artográfico, de las producciones visuales y las memorias/narrativas de los académicos La recolección de datos se produjo mediante la aplicación de un cuestionario. Con base en el análisis de datos, se observó que el grabado es poco citado como lenguaje artístico desarrollado en la escuela, el dibujo y la pintura están más enfatizados. Se concluye que los lenguajes artísticos, incluida la poética del grabado, deben desarrollarse aún más en las aulas y que, cada vez más, la enseñanza del arte necesita ser valorada con espacios adecuados, como fuente de sensibilidad, empatía y formación en educación básica.Este estudo traz uma análise da experiência realizada com os/as acadêmicos/as do curso de Artes Visuais da Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (Unesc) nos anos de 2013 a 2016, nas disciplinas de “Gravura e Pesquisa” e “Serigrafia e Pesquisa”. O objetivo deste estudo é identificar o que os discentes trazem em suas memórias sobre suas experiências escolares relacionadas à disciplina de Artes na educação básica, na forma de relatos e imagens, com o intuito de perceber qual é o lugar da disciplina de Artes e qual tem sido o lugar da gravura no tocante às linguagens artísticas, a fim de compreender o processo de formação para a prática docente no ensino de Artes. Na metodologia, o estudo em questão foi desenvolvido dentro de uma abordagem qualitativa e artográfica, a partir das produções visuais e das memórias/narrativas dos/as acadêmicos/as. A coleta de dados ocorreu mediante a aplicação de um questionário. Com base na análise dos dados, observou-se que a gravura é pouco citada como linguagem artística desenvolvida na escola, sendo mais enfatizados o desenho e a pintura.
