Femininities and intertextual relations: an experience of reading images from the American Vogue magazine

Resumo: This article is an account of a non-formal pedagogical experience that proposed the reading of 3 images to a group of 5 people of different genders and ages. The analyzed images were chosen because they referred to the cover of the September 2018 issue of the American Vogue Magazine with Beyoncé. The intention was to investigate whether it would be possible to promote a discussion about fashion images and increase the perception of visual culture, through the exercise of image reading. The proposal was systematized in three pedagogical moments and the image reading was based on Oliveira (2006). As a result, the participants ́ view was deepened and meaningful discussions were initiated on models of femininity and the intertextual relations surrounding the theme of representations of Bahian women.

Las imágenes analizadas fueron escogidas porque aparecieron en la portada de la revista Vogue US con Beyoncé, en la edición de septiembre de 2018. La intención fue investigar si es posible promover una discusión sobre las imágenes de moda y una expansión de la percepción sobre la cultura visual, a través del ejercicio de lectura de imágenes. La propuesta fue sistematizada en tres momentos pedagógicos y la lectura de imágenes se basó en Oliveira (2006). Como resultado, hubo una profundización en la perspectiva de las participantes y la apertura de discusiones significativas sobre modelos de feminidad y relaciones intertextuales en torno al tema de las representaciones de las mujeres bahianas.O presente artigo é um relato de uma experiência pedagógica não formal, que propôs a leitura de três imagens a um grupo de 5 pessoas de gêneros e idades diversas. As imagens analisadas foram escolhidas por remeteram à capa da Revista Vogue US com Beyoncé, na edição de setembro de 2018. A intenção foi investigar se é possível promover uma discussão sobre imagens de moda e uma ampliação da percepção sobre a cultura visual, por meio do exercício da leitura de imagens. A proposta foi sistematizada em três momentos pedagógicos e a leitura de imagens baseou-se em Oliveira (2006).
