Clothing design: case study of t-shirts used in political demonstrations in Brazil and Colombia between 2012 and 2016

Resumo: T-shirts have become part of important moments in fashion, revealing themselves as a “flag” of concepts and ways of thinking about a certain theme in society. They are relevant in political demonstrations as a way of disseminating the support or rejection of a significant issue that may affect the community, some specific groups or a country. This research aims to analyze the design of t-shirts as a vehicle for messages in political demonstrations. Therefore, a case study of t-shirts in political demonstrations in Colombia and Brazil from 2012 to 2016 was carried out. An analysis proposal on the use of t-shirts is presented and has four main aspects: typographic, use of color, symbology and speech. The results demonstrate the importance of design to influence decision making, in addition to the similarities and differences of the two cases analyzed and how the elan in the discourse helps to strengthen and transform a message, generating new forms of approach.

Las manifestaciones políticas, son relevantes como forma de exponer a otras personas el apoyo o rechazo de una temática significativa que afecta a la comunidad, algunos grupos específicos o a un país. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar cómo el diseño en las camisetas puede ayudar a transmitir un mensaje en las manifestaciones políticas. Por lo tanto, fue realizado un estudio de caso de las camisetas en las manifestaciones políticas de Brasil y Colombia entre los años 2012 a 2016.  La propuesta de análisis de las camisetas es presentada en cuatro aspectos principales: tipográficos, uso de los colores, simbología y discurso. Los resultados demuestran la importancia del diseño para influenciar la toma de decisiones, además de la semejanza y diferencia de los dos casos analizados y como el hilo en el discurso ayuda a fortalecer y transformar un mensaje generando nuevas formas de abordarlo, impactando el escenario y su entorno.As camisetas tornaram-se parte de momentos importantes da moda, revelando-se como uma “bandeira” de conceitos e formas de pensar sobre determinados temas na sociedade. Nas manifestações políticas, elas ocuparam um lugar relevante como forma de divulgar o apoio ou o rechaço a uma temática significativa que teria potencial para afetar uma comunidade, alguns grupos específicos ou um país. Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar o design das camisetas como veículo de mensagens em manifestações políticas. Para tanto, foi feito um estudo de caso das camisetas em manifestações políticas na Colômbia e no Brasil no período de 2012 a 2016.  Uma proposta de análise no uso das camisetas é apresentada, com quatro aspectos principais: tipográficos, uso da cor, simbologia e discurso.
