School nourishment and local social development: The case of food stuff acquisition from familiar farming

Study about the food supply from familiar farming to the National Program of School Nourishment (PNAE). Aiming at analyzing the relationship of the employed logistic from the familiar farmer and the PNAE’s purpose of local social and economic development. The data was collected through interviews with familiar farmers that provide food for the PNAE and observation of their practice, inside the Ceará municipalities. The research’s theoretical basis was studies about logistics, as well the history and PNAE’s legal basis. The results studyallow us to say that the supply logistic, the bureaucrat aspects and the inappropriate planning from the farmer reduce the expected participation of that category of producers as school food suppliers within the mandatory minimum percentage and conditions required by law. Therefore, the PNAE’s purpose of contributing to the local social and economic development is not fully accomplished.
