Resumo: | This paper made an analysis of the transformations that occurred in the productive activity of beef cattle from the Para Real Plan, the Brazilian System of Identification and Certification of Cattle and Buffaloes - SISBOV and certification of meso south and southeast as free of FMD with vaccination, named by the Government of the State of Pará area I. The research was qualitative in nature, with the methodological procedures bibliographical, documentary and field, being performed through semi-structured interviews, guided by scripts composed of open and closed questions with groups of small, medium and large producers cattle breeders. It was found that from the year 2002, the State of Pará began to participate more actively in international export fresh beef to the European Union and the United States, mainly due to the outbreak of BSE - Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, also known as "mad cow disease", which occurred in both countries in 1990, but also because of trade and financial openness of the Brazilian market and currency stabilization, both generated by the Real Plan. The Brazilian market has also undergone changes regarding the marketing of beef, as Brazilian consumers now have greater economic power for the consumption of the product, as well as become more demanding as to their food security. |

The Brazilian market has also undergone changes regarding the marketing of beef, as Brazilian consumers now have greater economic power for the consumption of the product, as well as become more demanding as to their food security.Este trabalho fez uma análise das transformações que ocorreram na atividade produtiva da pecuária de corte paraense a partir da implantação do Plano Real, do Sistema Brasileiro de Identificação e Certificação de Bovinos e Bubalinos – SISBOV e da certificação das mesorregiões sul e sudeste como livres de aftosa com vacinação, denominadas pelo Governo do Estado do Pará de Área I. A pesquisa foi de natureza qualitativa, tendo como procedimentos metodológicos pesquisa bibliográfica, documental e de campo, sendo esta realizada através de entrevistas semiestruturadas, orientadas por roteiros compostos de perguntas abertas e fechadas com grupos de pequenos, médios e grandes produtores criadores de gado bovino. Verificou-se que a partir do ano de 2002, o Estado do Pará passou a participar mais ativamente da exportação internacional de carne bovina in natura para a União Européia e para os Estados Unidos, principalmente em função do surto de BSE – Encefalopatia Espongiforme Bovina, também conhecida como “doença da vaca louca”, que ocorreu em ambos os países no ano de 1990, mas também em função da abertura comercial e financeira do mercado brasileiro e a estabilização da moeda, ambos gerados pela implantação do Plano Real. O mercado interno brasileiro também sofreu transformações quanto à comercialização da carne bovina, já que o consumidor brasileiro passou a ter maior poder econômico para o consumo do produto, assim como se tornou mais exigente quanto à sua segurança alimentar.
