A Bakhtinian analysis of hate speech against northeastern people in social media posts after the first round of the 2022 Elections

The trivialization of hate and the attack on historically subordinated groups have generated a wave of social and democratic setbacks marked by violence and the practice of intolerance. From this perspective, we aim to analyze the hate speech against northeastern people in utterances from the universe of digital social networks. For this, we take, as a theoretical-methodological basis, assumptions of Dialogical Discourse Analysis, more specifically, the notions of chronotope, concrete utterance and evaluative appreciation, considering that, from an axiological perspective, they are constructed, in social networks, chronotopes of hate that favor the dissemination of intolerant, prejudiced and xenophobic discursive practices. The corpus consists of 05 posts that circulated on social networks shortly after the first round of the 2022 presidential elections in virtual environment. The results reveal that the analyzed statements create and are created by chronotopes of hatred against a portion of society that strengthen the ideological affiliation and the feeling of belonging of groups supporting Jair Bolsonaro in a virtual environment. In addition, these statements contribute to an enunciative project that aims at the inferiorization of the Northeastern people and a consequent marginalization of this part of the population, in order to discredit the results of the elections.
