News published in online magazines for women : The minor chronotope

This article aims at analyzing the minor chronotope of the genre news published in online magazines for women. In theoretical terms, the research is based on Bakhtin Circle’s studies, especially regarding to the notion of chronotope and discourse genres, as well as discussions of contemporary interlocutors. Regarding to the methodology, we follow the sociological method for studying language by Bakhtin (Volochínov) (2009 [1929]). The universe of analysis is composed by five online magazines published for women, which are Ana Maria, Claudia, Glamour, Marie Claire and TPM. From those, we selected fifteen samples of the genre studied, being three from each magazine. On the analysis of the minor chronotope, we understand that the discursive place and the periodicity are still being resignified and defined as news are published in online supports. Besides, we understand that the position of authorship is defined as it follows the ideological-valued position of the editors, although the empiric authorship isn’t relatively stablished on the magazines, while the expected interlocutor consists on the adult women, and this projection is already stablished on the magazines, and it is the expected interlocutor itself that guides what is going to be published or silenced by the magazines.
