Resumo: In this article, we analyze the impacts of the implantation of housing estates by the Minha Casa Minha Vida Program - PMCMV in Ituiutaba city, located in the interior of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. For this, we held a debate on housing and the importance of public housing policies. Then, we focus on the context of the city of Ituiutaba when dealing with the impacts produced by the PMCMV on the local reality, considering the analysis, treatment and mapping of a set of statistical data and information obtained from interviews with residents. The results point to the expressiveness of the production of popular housing through the PMCMV in Ituiutaba and its impacts on the territorial expansion of the city. Given this context, it is necessary to reflect on the way that such housing policy was implemented, reproducing characteristics of other housing programs from the past.

Para ello, realizamos una discusión sobre vivienda y la importancia de las políticas públicas de vivienda. Luego, nos enfocamos en el contexto de la ciudad de Ituiutaba a través de los impactos producidos por el PMCMV en la realidad local, considerando el análisis, tratamiento y mapeo de un conjunto de datos estadísticos e información obtenida de entrevistas con habitantes. Los resultados apuntan a la expresividad de la producción de vivienda popular a través del PMCMV en Ituiutaba y sus impactos en la expansión territorial de la ciudad. Ante este escenario, se hace necesario pensar en la forma en que se implementó dicha política habitacional, reproduciendo características de otros programas habitacionales del pasado.Neste texto analisamos os impactos da implantação de conjuntos habitacionais pelo Programa Minha Casa Minha Vida – PMCMV na cidade de Ituiutaba, localizada no interior do estado de Minas Gerais. Para tanto, realizamos uma discussão sobre a habitação e a importância das políticas públicas habitacionais. Em seguida, damos foco ao contexto da cidade de Ituiutaba ao tratarmos dos impactos produzidos pelo PMCMV na realidade local, considerando-se a análise, tratamento e mapeamento de um conjunto de dados estatísticos e informações obtidas a partir da realização de entrevistas junto a moradores. Os resultados apontam para a expressividade da produção de moradias populares por meio do PMCMV em Ituiutaba e seus impactos na expansão territorial da cidade.
