Platão and Children with Disabilities

This study proposes a reflection on disability in the Platão era. It is associated with prejudice and its consequences in the current society: how was the extermination of people with disabilities, especially children, according the Platão notes and the reasons why infanticide happened, the various explanations for such an attitude and the acceptance of such an event by the children's parents. Different texts were used in a discussion with Platão texts in order to identify what was the culture of the time when the disabled person was not a human being and a citizen like all the others. The extermination of disabled people was practiced without violating any law and even with the approval of the church. Exclusion as a consequence of the acts practiced at the time and that perpetuates until today through other forms of extermination, such as prejudice and non-acceptance of these individuals at school, at work and in society in general.
