Cognitive and metacognitive strategies in higher education

Resumo: The study analyzed a university extension course, in the private network, in the city of Brasília. The investigation referred to the value that knowledge of cognitive and metacognitive strategies can influence and enable the interaction of a new student with the classroom study material. 113 higher education students participated, distributed in 14 classes taught by trainees in school psychology, during two semesters, in a higher education institution in the Federal District. The data showed that the proposal enabled new ways to organize information and review the content through mental maps, recognizing expressions and keywords in the text, highlighting the importance of the SQ4R technique in reading. The proposal contributed with guidance and better interaction with the texts, being able to be extended to elementary and high school students.

A investigação se referia ao valor que o conhecimento das estratégias cognitivas e metacognitivas podem influenciar e viabilizar uma nova interação do aluno com o material de estudo na aula. Participaram 113 estudantes do ensino superior, distribuídos em 14 turmas conduzidas por estagiários da disciplina de estágio em psicologia escolar, durante dois semestres, em uma instituição de ensino superior do Distrito Federal. Os dados evidenciaram que a proposta viabilizou novas formas de organizar as informações e realizar a revisão dos conteúdos por meio de mapas mentais, reconhecendo expressões e palavras chaves no texto, destacando a importância da técnica SQ4R na leitura.
