The function of fashion as a social reference in the penitentiary space

Resumo: Analyze the penitentiary context experienced by many Brazilian prisoners and calamity situations experienced within penitentiaries. Crafts and crochet are the most common jobs inside prisons. Well, the congestion in penitentiaries is due to collective demand, which has evolved since the process of rural exodus, but the structure of the State has come to a standstill. It is worth highlighting that there is a lack of public policies for reintegration and resocialization, which is still very difficult due to society's prejudice. Fashion is a means of communication and a form of expression for the individual. The Ponto Firme project is directed by fashion designer Gustavo Silvestre, and carried out at the Adriano Marrey penitentiary, aims to resocialize inmates. In view of this, there is also an investigation into the attitude of prisoners towards handling crochet and how they can use this resource to survive after leaving prison.

O artesanato e o crochê são os trabalhos mais corriqueiros dentro dos presídios. Pois, o congestionamento nas penitenciárias deve a demanda coletiva, a qual evoluiu desde o processo do êxodo rural, mas a estrutura do Estado paralisou. É valido ressaltar que há falta de políticas públicas de reinserção e a ressocialização, ainda é muito difícil devido ao preconceito da sociedade. A moda é um meio de comunicação e forma de expressão do indivíduo.  O projeto Ponto Firme é dirigido pelo estilista Gustavo Silvestre e realizado na penitenciária Adriano Marrey, tem como objetivo a ressocialização dos detentos.
