The (re)signification of teaching through the pedagogical residency program

Resumo: The Pedagogical Residency Program (PRP) allows the student to develop several skills and abilities necessary for teaching practice. In addition to this knowledge, we are concerned with another dimension: The meaning of teaching. This work aimed to investigate how participation in the PRP, through the process of practice and reflection of practice, contributed to the construction of a meaning of teaching by residents. This study was carried out through a qualitative approach, of the case study type. Twelve residents who answered a questionnaire participated. We noticed that residents were giving a new meaning to teaching based on their experiences in the PRP. Teaching was no longer just the development of skills and competences necessary for teaching work, towards a reflection on the process of development of this knowledge and a new look at initial training. Participation in the program, therefore, contributed to the redefinition of what residents conceived of as teaching.

Para além destes saberes, nos preocupamos com outra dimensão: O significado de docência. Este trabalho visou investigar como a participação no PRP, através do processo de prática e reflexão da prática, contribuiu para a construção de um significado de docência pelos residentes. Este estudo foi feito através de uma abordagem qualitativa, do tipo estudo de caso. Participaram 12 residentes que responderam a um questionário. Percebemos que os residentes foram dando um novo significado à docência a partir de suas vivências no PRP. A docência deixava de ser apenas o desenvolvimento de habilidades e competências necessários ao trabalho docente para uma reflexão sobre o processo de desenvolvimento desses saberes e para um novo olhar sobre a formação inicial.
