The crops of our struggle: histories and memories of an indigenous resident about Jangurussu

This study presents the history of Jangurussu from the (auto)biographical narratives of an indigenous resident of the neighborhood. Given the context of peripherization in which the city of Fortaleza was urbanized, we sought to know the history of Jangurussu, how the occupation of that area took place and what the relationship of the resident is with the place where she lives. For that purpose, we used the Life History as a method to be applied, from a qualitative approach (MINAYO, 2001), utilizing (auto)biographical narratives as data production source (SOUZA, 2007) and (OLIVEIRA, 2005). As results, we point out that the narratives bring back histories and memories of an indigenous woman in the urban context about the struggle, resistance, solidarity and collective care that marked the history of Jangurussu. Memories that in the face of the contradictions of urbanization, maintain world practices and highlight the inventive power of the territory.
