Education and food: representations of students from a full-time public school in the state of Ceará about food

Resumo: This article proposes to investigate representations that students have about food and healthy eating in their daily lives. It intends to reflect on their daily practices, which are strongly marked by consumerism and standardization, interfering in the construction of sociocultural values, which are produced and constantly fed back. Our general objective is to analyze the social representations of food among students in the 1st year of high school at a full-time school in the public education network in Ceará. Specifically, we intend to categorize these representations among students about food and healthy eating, identifying in these subject to social representations. As a theoretical reference, we will work with the authors Bezerra (2002;, 2018),; Moscovici (2005),; Jodelet (2001;, 2005) to discuss two categories of analysis: food, healthy eating and representations. The research was structured to understand the symbolic representations in relation to food in the school context and will have a qualitative approach with case study methodology, based on the application of a questionnaire and semi-structured interview, which corroborate the knowledge, reading and dialogue about events in the context of the researched object. . The results of the research, which involved interviews with 50 students, confirm the hypothesis raised by the study about food and healthy eating in the context of social representations in a full-time public school. For example, approximately 70% of adolescents consider food and healthy eating to be interconnected concepts, recognizing the relevance of food in their lives and demonstrating interest in issues related to nutrition and the quality of the food they consume. Furthermore, 98% of those interviewed perceive physical appearance as something fundamental in their lives, suggesting a relationship between personal image, aesthetics and type of diet. However, the students' social reality limits the implementation of these categories, since eating habits are conditioned by the school, where three meals a day are offered, unlike what happens at home, as revealed in the students' testimonies through interviews.

Pretende refletir sobre suas práticas cotidianas, que são fortemente marcadas pelo consumismo e padronizações, interferindo na construção de valores socioculturais, os quais são produzidos e retroalimentados constantemente. Temos como objetivo geral analisar as representações sociais da alimentação dos alunos do 1º ano do Ensino Médio de uma escola de tempo integral da rede pública de ensino do Ceará, especificamente, intentamos categorizar essas representações entre os discentes sobre alimentação, e alimentação saudável, identificando nesses sujeitos as representações sociais. Como referência teórica, trabalharemos com os autores Bezerra (2002; 2018), Moscovici (2005), Jodelet (2001; 2005) para dialogar acerca de duas categorias de análise: alimentação, alimentação saudável e representações. A pesquisa foi estruturada visando compreender as representações simbólicas em relação à alimentação no contexto escolar e terá uma abordagem qualitativa com a metodologia de estudo de caso, a partir da aplicação de um questionário e entrevista semiestruturada, que corroboram no conhecer, ler e dialogar sobre acontecimentos no contexto do objeto pesquisado. Os resultados da pesquisa, que envolveu entrevistas com 50 alunos, confirmam a hipótese levantada pelo estudo sobre alimentação e alimentação saudável no contexto das representações sociais em uma escola pública de tempo integral. Por exemplo, aproximadamente 70% dos adolescentes consideram alimentação e alimentação saudável como conceitos interligados, reconhecendo a relevância da alimentação em suas vidas e demonstrando interesse em questões relacionadas à nutrição e qualidade dos alimentos que consomem. Além disso, 98% dos entrevistados percebem a aparência física como algo fundamental em suas vidas, sugerindo uma relação entre imagem pessoal, estética e o tipo de alimentação.
