Resumo: This expanded abstract deals with a theoretical approach to the research (Re)signification of the teaching of literature: identity and belonging in the work of Mestre Didi, under development in the Postgraduate Program in Teaching, Language and Society (PPGELS), which aims to main to elaborate, apply and evaluate a didactic sequence for high school, aiming to give new meaning to the teaching of Literature, through the dissemination and valuing of the identity and sense of belonging of the Afro-Brazilian culture, taking as reference the tale “The flight of Tio Ajayí”, part of the work of Deoscóredes Maximiliano dos Santos, Mestre Didi. The study uses as research methodology the analytical method, with a qualitative and exploratory approach and documental analysis. For the production of data, the literary work “The flight of Tio Ajayí” and the development of the didactic sequence produced by the researchers were analyzed.

O estudo utiliza como metodologia de pesquisa o método analítico, de abordagem qualitativa e exploratória e análise documental.
