Hair Symbols: study on the braiding women of Marabá

Resumo: This study analyzes the importance of the representation of the Afro hairstyle for the affirmation of black identity. And it aims to highlight the symbology of hair for a group of braiding women from Marabá in the south and southeast of Pará, thus highlighting the appreciation of African aesthetics for the ethnic affirmation of black women  who resignify their Africanity, through the self-definition of braided afro. And as a guiding basis for this ongoing study, I use the oral research method to understand the role of memory in the transmission of knowledge left by our African ancestors. And from this perspective, understand how aesthetic expression contributes to the empowerment and affirmation of black women in this city.

E tem como objetivo evidenciar a simbologia do cabelo para um grupo de mulheres trançadeiras de Marabá da região sul e sudeste do Pará, destacando assim a valorização da estética africana para a afirmação étnica de mulheres negras que se ressignificam a sua africanidade, através da autodefinição do trançado afro. E como base norteadora deste estudo que se encontra em andamento utilizo o método de pesquisa oral para compreender o papel da memória na transmissão de saberes deixado pelos nossos ancestrais africanos.
