The importance of Magnetic Resonance Enterography (Entero-RM) in the diagnosis of Crohn's Disease

Resumo: Abstract Crohn's disease (CD) is an inflammatory bowel disorder of unknown origin, characterized by focal, asymmetric and transmural involvement of any portion of the digestive tract, from the mouth to the anus. It presents under an inflammatory, fistulous and fibrostenosing process, with the ileum, colon and perianal region being more affected. It can also have extraintestinal manifestations, such as ophthalmologic, dermatologic or rheumatologic. The objective was to address the importance of imaging diagnosis in CD, performed through the Magnetic Enteroresonance (Entero-MRI) exam. The methodology was qualitative and bibliographical, through consultation on the Medline-Pubmed database, without restriction of publication date. It was concluded that there are several imaging methods that can be used to assess CD, the main advantage of Entero-MRI being the non-use of ionizing radiation. However, this technique has limitations in its use due to its high cost and the existence of few devices available in health services.   Keywords: Crohn's disease; Diagnosis; Symptoms; Treatment.

Apresenta-se sob processo inflamatório, fistuloso e fibroestenosante, sendo mais acometidos o íleo, o cólon e a região perianal. Também pode ter manifestações extraintestinais, tais como oftalmológicas, dermatológicas ou reumatológicas. O objetivo foi abordar a importância do diagnóstico por imagem na DC, realizado através do exame de Enterorressonância Magnética (Entero-RM). A metodologia foi de base qualitativa e bibliográfica, mediante consulta na base Medline-Pubmed, sem restrição de data de publicação. Concluiu-se que existem diversos métodos de imagem que podem ser utilizados para avaliação da DC, sendo a principal vantagem da Entero-RM a não utilização de radiação ionizante.
