Resumo: This article aims to review the concept of socio-environmental management in organizations, as well as list the main practices and waste management policies used by these companies in Ceará. The methodology of this study consists of a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory research, and the process for data collection consisted of a bibliographic survey in books and scientific articles, in addition to the application of a 30-question questionnaire sent to e-mails and social networks. (Instagram and WhatsApp) of 300 companies from Ceará. With this, the results showed that entrepreneurs from Ceará have found that sustainability is not only a normative aspect, but also a strategic element. As it was presented that the enterprises in the state of Ceará have specific actions of waste management and recycling in their practices and policies, however their impacts are few effective in Ceará society, requiring actions from the municipality.

A metodologia deste estudo consiste em uma pesquisa qualitativa, descritiva e exploratória, e o processo para a coleta de dados consistiu no levantamento bibliográfico em livros e artigos científicos, além da aplicação de um questionário de 30 questões enviado para os e-mails e as redes sociais (Instagram e WhatsApp) de 300 empresas cearenses. Com isso, os resultados demostraram que os empresários cearenses têm constatado que a sustentabilidade não é somente um aspecto normativo, mas também um elemento estratégico.
