O sincretismo religioso e a relevância sociocultural da literatura de Jorge Amado

The article aims to discuss religious syncretism considered by some researchers as a way of "disguise" (PRANDI, 2009, p. 50) for slaves to worship their gods or deities from the great mother Africa. Besides being seen, also, by other theorists, as a strategy for black men and black women to be accepted by the white society of the colonial period slavery. Parallel to these discussions of syncretic character, the article also highlights the literature of engagement and sociocultural relevance of the writer Jorge Amado (1912 - 2001) through some passages of the works: Tenda dos Milagres (1969) and Mar Morto (1936), which discuss issues regarding racism, religious intolerance and the religious syncretism present in the image of the orisha Iemanjá, thus highlighting its rituals.
