Women in Brazilian Dialetology: was Nascentes right?

In this work, of historical and documentary nature, the goal is to highlight the important role played by women in and for Brazilian Dialetology. For this purpose, based on the concern of Antenor Nascentes, in 1958, in the work Bases para el elaboração do atlas linguístico do Brasil, when he stated that [...] for the task of collecting material women are less adequate than men... (NASCENTES, 1958, p. 7), attempts are made to bring out the paths taken by dialectologists and dialectologists in order to highlight the enormous female contribution to the development of dialect science. In order to carry out or carry out the research, some steps have been followed, such as: a) determination of the scope of research and adoption of the first two linguistic atlases carried out in Brazil, the Bahian False Atlas (ROSSI, 1963) and the Sergipe Linguistic Atlas (FERREIRA et. al, 1987); b) a very careful reading of the introductions of the selected atlases; c) data collection; d) the elaboration of spreadsheets with the chronology of the facts found e) the construction of an exhibition panel, which demonstrates the relevance of women's work for the advances in Brazilian Dialetology and Linguistic Geography; and f) a wide consultation of photographic records and field research sheets, with the aim of illustrating the moments experienced by the atlas, APFB and ALS teams. With this rescue, it is hoped that stories of research in loco will be uncovered, which sometimes do not appear in publications, but which are very important for the performance of the work of researchers and researchers in Brazilian Geolinguistics.
