O presente artigo tem por finalidade contribuir no entendimento da sociedade do Mato Grosso do século XVIII e, de forma mais específica, dos usos de práticas de magias e feitiçarias, através de seu papel nessa sociedade e de como seus agentes sociais se posicionavam diante dessas questões imateriais.Indo além, busca instituir uma especificidade no uso de bolsas de mandingas e embrulhos de feitiço e associá-los à lógica religiosa que se constitui na colônia ao longo dos três séculos de convivências de africanos, americanos e descendentes.THE BAGS OF MANDINGO AND PACKAGES FOR SPELL IN MATOGROSSO EIGHTEENTHAbstract: This article aims to contribute in the understanding of the society from Mato Grosso in the 18th century and, more specifically, the uses of sorcery and witchcraft, through its role in this society and how its social agents stand in front of these immaterial questions. Going farther, it seeks for establishing specificityin the use of “bags of Mandingo” and “packages for spell” and associates them with the religious logic that constitutes the colony over the three centuries of Africans, Americans and their descendants living together.
