Resumo: This review purposed to explain insulin release regarding its unchain and response pattern. The metabolic and glucoreceptor hypothesis are described for glucose recognition. The biphasic pattern of insulin secretion is discussed within limits of a large number of explicative hypothesis.

São apresentadas as hipóteses metabólica e do glicorreceptor para o reconhecimento da glicose.
