Resumo: | Stock inventory is usually done at the end of the fiscal year by physicallu counting all the items in stock. This process is expensive and time-consuming. In this paper a model is proposed to speed up this process by using a sample of the items in stock. Sampling theory enables the total physical quantity and monetary value to be calculated without having to count or value every item. The statistical population is made up of those items wich are physically stocked and legallu accounted for. The mean value of the stock balances is first obtained and this enables the total stock value to be calculated. Methods for defining sample strata and the samples themselves are described, using accounting data. The results of an apllication of hte model are presented to show that it works in practice. |

O balanço de estoque é feito mais comumente no final de um período fiscal pela contagem física de todos os elementos dos itens em estoques. Tal procedimento provoca um aumento dos custos e demora do inventário. Propõe-se neste trabalho com utilização do computador, um processo, de modo que todos os itens são considerados inventariados apesar de que somente alguns são selecionados e fisicamente levantados por quantidade de estoque e valor monetário. Para isto, são utilizados procedimentos matemáticos - estatísticos aceitos, isto é, teoria da amostragem estratificada, que garantem a exatidão requerida do processo. Assim, os itens fisicamente estocados e legalmente contabilizados constituem a população estatística cuja média dos saldos monetários é objeto de estimação e, conseqüentemente, o valor do balanço do estoque. Para isto, descrevem-se métodos de organização dos estratos e de seleção das subamostras nos mesmos, através dos saldos contábeis dos itens discutidos. A fim de garantir que realmente os objetivos propostos sejam atingidos, além das justificativas teóricas, apresentam-se os resultados de uma aplicação prática do processo com dados reais.
