Resumo: For the present experiment 60 piglets were used, which had been previously selected for the performance test. The main purpose was to evaluate the efficiency of the piglet selection method in avoiding chromosomal rearrangement fixation at the herd level. Eleven metaphases were analyzed from each animal (660 in total) and some of them were photographed for karyotype analysis. All the karyotypes were 38, XYr considered to be normal for the species in study. It is concluded then that the selection method of piglets to be used in performance tests proved to be efficient as to withhold chromosomal rearrangement fixation, specialty the reciprocal translocation at the herd level in the swine species.

The main purpose was to evaluate the efficiency of the piglet selection method in avoiding chromosomal rearrangement fixation at the herd level. Eleven metaphases were analyzed from each animal (660 in total) and some of them were photographed for karyotype analysis. It is concluded then that the selection method of piglets to be used in performance tests proved to be efficient as to withhold chromosomal rearrangement fixation, specialty the reciprocal translocation at the herd level in the swine species. UEL1992-01-13info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://ojs.uel.br/revistas/uel/index.php/semagrarias/article/view/459210.5433/1679-0359.1992v13n1p21Semina: Ciências Agrárias; Vol. 13 No. 1 (1992); 21-23Semina: Ciências Agrárias; v. 13 n. 1 (1992); 21-231679-03591676-546Xreponame:Semina.
