Resumo: An epidemiological inquiry was made in order to verify the occurrence of T. gondii among people living in the rural area of Guaraci Municipality, Parana State, Brazil. One hundred and fifteen samples from people between the ages of 6 and 74 years old, were submitted to Indirect Immunofluorescence assay for anti T. gondii antibodies. The survey revealed 71,3% of positive reactions with titles equal to or higher than 1:16 for IgG. The most frequent titles were among 1:1024 and 1:4096 (29,2%). There were no positive reactions for IgM. Sex and age did not influence the indices of positive and negative samples.

Sex and age did not influence the indices of positive and negative samples.   Realizou-se um levantamento soroepidemiológico para verificara ocorrência de reagentes para Toxoplasma gondii entre moradores da região rural do município de Guaraci, Paraná, no período de março a abril de 1993, abrangendo uma faixa etária de 6 a 74 anos. Foram analisadas 115 amostras pela reação de imunoftuorescência indireta (RIFI-lgG e RIFI-lgM), encontrando-se um total de 71,3% de reagentes a partir da diluição de 1:16 para a RIFI-IgG e não havendo reagentes para RIFI-lgM. Os títulos mais freqüentes encontrados para RIFI-lgG foram de 1:1024 e 1:4.096 (ambos com 29,2%) e 1:256 (26,2%).
