Resumo: Dealing with the double mechanism of communication, the author discusses the onomasiological and semasiological mechanism, the advantages of the speaker over the hearer in the process of communication, beginning eith a brief discussion on message, code, channel and context. Some practical considerations, important not only to the speaker but also to the heaer, are given at the end.
