Resumo: | The reniform nematode is distributed around the world and it is one of most common nematodefound in areas under cultivation in tropical America. It is a severe pathogen of cotton, soybean, pineapples and sweet potatoes and it is known to parasitize 160 other plant species. Some host plants are clearly unfavorable to the parasite shown by low reproduction of the reniform nematode. In this study it could be held the following conclusions in relation to cotton plant: a) The reniform nematode interferes on cotton resistente to Fusarium wilt; b) resistant cultivars of cotton show highly lignified cell walls in the pericycle; the resistance in cotton is controlled by two or more pair of genes. In relation to soybean resistance to reniform nematode; a) the reniform nematode causes breakdown or dissolution of cell walls in the pericycle; by the resistance of soybean to reniform nematode is controlled by two pairs of genes; c) linked genes are responsible for the resistance to the reniform nematode and soybean cyst nematode. |
