Resumo: This paper has four sessions. First, we discuss some uses of terms that come from the semantic field of madness, when the subject of 1964’s dictatorship is at issue. This related to the paranoid aspect of dictatorial power and to the emotional effects felt by its victims. In the second part, we study how the generalized suspicion works. Third, we design an image for the repressive apparatus, referred to the question of paranoia. Finally, we discuss how Renato Pompeu wrote a crucial novel, in which the dictatorship is watch by someone who is inside a madhouse. The objective of this study is to enrich the field of the studies about political languages, specifically on the case of dictatorship.

Na primeira, discutimos alguns usos de termos derivados do campo semântico da loucura quando o assunto é a ditadura civil-militar de 1964. Isso tanto no sentido do teor paranoico do poder ditatorial, quanto no dos efeitos traumatizantes que ele gerou em suas vítimas. Na segunda, estudamos o funcionamento da suspeita generalizada. Na terceira, desenhamos um perfil do aparato repressivo ditatorial, do ponto de vista da paranoia. Por fim, comentamos como Renato Pompeu escreveu um romance fundamental, no qual a ditadura foi vista, por assim dizer, de dentro de um hospício.
