Resumo: This article aims to reflect in depth on the relationship between comics and history – paying attention, more specifically, to the functions of comics as a historical object, means of representation for history, and historical agent. The use of comics as a historical source is recognized as a very important relationship to be considered by historians, but it will be not the subject of this article, except sideway, once this relationship is the most complex, deserving a more specific article. To bring examples that clarify the three types of relationships under study that involve the interation Comics-History – the ‘historical representation’, the comic book as ‘object’, and the comic book as a ‘historical agent’ – ​​several examples of well-known comics are approached.
