Resumo: The aim of this article is to analyze and compare the works of Reinhart Koselleck and Jörn Rüsen, probably the two German historians most widely disseminated in Brazil today, but who lack comparative studies. The approach between the authors will be made through the topics of the philosophy of history, utopia and crisis. The objective is to understand how each author works on these themes, and what are the possible similarities and differences between the two approaches. Our thesis is that both authors start from the same problem: how to understand and assimilate the catastrophe of World War II and National Socialism; however, they postulate different answers: Rüsen is directly linked to a certain Illuminist tradition (Kant), and elaborates a more optimistic theory about the future and about humanity; already Koselleck presents a more incisive critical position against the rehabilitation of Illuminist traditions and the XIX century Philosophy of History.
