Resumo: Since the beginning of the 20th century, the boost to the energy sector in Argentina was an eloquent example of the intense modernization process that sought to increase economic activity. Within this framework, the article addresses the measures adopted by the “Development” Government in the 1960s to improve the productive conditions of the country. In particular, it analyzes a set of offices that were created, legislation passed, and works planned in the provinces of Neuquén and Río Negro to expand and modernize the energy supply in the Greater Buenos Aires region, the epicenter of national industrial activity par excellence. The main hypothesis considers that it was a unique moment of active participation of the public sector in the modernization process of the south of the country. En este marco, el artículo aborda las medidas adoptadas por el Estado Desarrollista en la década de1960 para mejorar las condiciones de producción del país. En particular, el objetivo es analizar un conjunto de organismos creados, de legislación sancionada, y de obras proyectadas y construidas en las provincias de Neuquén y de Río Negro para ampliar y modernizar el abastecimiento de electricidad de la región del Gran Buenos Aires, por excelencia el epicentro de la actividad industrial nacional. La principal hipótesis que guía el trabajo considera que se trató de una etapa singular de activa participación del sector público en el proceso de modernización del sur del país.Desde o início do século 20, o impulso ao setor de energia na Argentina constituiu um exemplo eloquente do marcante processo de modernização que buscou contribuir para o aumento da atividade econômica. Nesse contexto, o artigo aborda as medidas adotadas pelo Estado Desenvolvimentista na década de 1960 para melhorar as condições produtivas do país. Em particular, analisa um conjunto de órgãos criados, legislações aprovadas e obras planejadas nas províncias de Neuquén e Río Negro para expandir e modernizar o abastecimento de energia da região da Grande Buenos Aires, reconhecida por excelência o epicentro da atividade industrial nacional.
