Resumo: | The Movement of Landless Rural Workers (MST), over its three decades of existence has been established as one of the most significant social movements in Brazil's history, both for its longevity, as for the reach of its mobilizations and performance in the Brazilian political scenario. From its points of view and political positions, the Movement always stated opposition to Brazilian presidents, except in relation to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In this sense, the article analyzes the representations of MST concerning President Fernando Collor de Mello, through its journal, the Jornal Sem Terra, during the period in which he held the presidency (1990-1992). Because methodology the analysis focused in editorial oh the newspaper, as they are reserved spaces of National Direction, that used to speak for the Moviment. It was used the idea of representation from Roger Chartier, very important for this reflections of the article. Throughout the text, it gets clear that Collor was represented as an enemy of the workers and agrarian reform as well as an authoritarian president. |

Por suas concepções e posições políticas, o Movimento sempre se declarou oposição aos presidentes brasileiros, exceto, em relação ao presidente Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Nesse sentido, o artigo analisa as representações do MST sobre o presidente Fernando Collor de Mello, por meio do seu periódico, o Jornal Sem Terra, no período em que ocupou a presidência da República (1990-1992). Por uma escolha metodológica as análises concentram-se nos editoriais do periódico, por serem espaços exclusivos da Direção Nacional, que o utiliza para falar em nome do Movimento. A ideia de representação, a partir das contribuições do historiador Roger Chartier, foi significativa para as reflexões do artigo.
