Resumo: At that moment in which we see a movement of revaluation of the memory, the purpose of this article is to analyze the dispute memoirist between "hard-liners" and "the moderate wing" about political opening in Brazil (1974-1985). The analysis of editorial production of the military, so far quite neglected by the Academy, brings us behind the scenes of the democratization process in Brazil, and allows us to have a glimpse at the internal political disputes between these two segments, as well as realize to what extent this clash influenced the course of political liberalization. To do so, and considering the theoretical approach between history, memory and power, we opted for the analysis of six Brazilian novelist works of military personnel who are in control of the State or in front of important organs of repression during the military dictatorship. By redeeming this clash, we can enrich our understanding not only of the period in question, but also of Brazil that emerged after the return of civilian Government.
