Resumo: | Going through the books on the shelves of a library at home is like starting a journey whose journey never ends, an adventure that can be recreated again and again on each page turn. However, how to select them properly? How to acquire those that are useful, with adequate materials and without poisonous opinions? How among so many reading do not choose those impossible to read because of the small character of the letter or the excessiveness of its price? Between 1910 and 1914, the readers of periodical publications could find an answer to these questions since, the announcements that sold encyclopedias and compendiums of universal history, they were shown as one of those places where the construction of new fields of reading was facilitated and cultural markets. So, the purpose of this presentation is to analyze a selection of notices, which are found on the pages of Caras y Caretas, offering for sale collections of books to try to glimpse as the transformations in the modes of circulation of the written and the reading practices tried to solve a new problem: what to read? |

Sin embargo, ¿cómo seleccionarlos adecuadamente? ¿Cómo adquirir los que son útiles, con materiales adecuados y sin opiniones ponzoñosas? ¿Cómo entre tanta lectura no elegir aquellos imposible de leerlos por el carácter pequeño de la letra o lo excesivo de su precio? Entre 1910 y 1914, los lectores de publicaciones periódicas podían encontrar una respuesta a estas cuestiones ya que, los avisos publicitarios que vendían enciclopedias y compendios de historia universal, se mostraban como uno de esos lugares donde se facilitaba la construcción de nuevos campos de lectura y mercados culturales. De modo que, el objetivo de esta presentación es analizar una selección de avisos, que se encuentran en las páginas de Caras y Caretas, ofreciendo a la venta colecciones de libros para tratar vislumbrar como las transformaciones en los modos de circulación de lo escrito y de las prácticas de lectura intentaban resolver un nuevo problema: ¿qué leer?Procurar os livros nas prateleiras de uma biblioteca em casa é como começar uma viagem cuja jornada nunca termina, uma aventura que pode ser recriada uma e outra vez em cada turno da página. No entanto, como selecioná-los corretamente? Como adquirir aqueles que são úteis, com materiais adequados e sem opiniões venenosas? Como entre tantas leituras não se escolhem aquelas impossíveis de ler devido ao caráter pequeno da letra ou à excessividade de seu preço? Entre 1910 e 1914, os leitores de periódicos poderia encontrar uma resposta a essas perguntas, porque, anúncios vendendo enciclopédias e compêndios de história do mundo, eles eram como um daqueles lugares onde a construção de novos campos de leitura mais fácil e mercados culturais.
