Resumo: This article aims to show how the arhitectural and urban planning magazines in four countries of the american Cone-South (Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay) make it possible to map a transnational professional culture. The intense circulation of ideas, projects, texts and people since 1920, when the First Pan-American Congress of Architects took place, allows us to refine the abstract notion of “circulation” that has consolidated in the historiography of architecture and urbanism in the in the last decades, as well as identifying the limits of the category of “network” to think a field in dispute. It is hoped, therefore, to contribute to a historiography that goes beyond national limits and to emphasize how these moments, spaces or attitudes of promoting debate were constitutive for the discipline throughout the XX century and to mark the notion of “nebulae” as an alternative to the limits identified in relation to the rigid and cartesian character of the networks.
