Resumo: | This article deals with the initial phase of Cândida Ivete Vargas Tatsch's political trajectory (1927-1984). The time frame ranges from the arrival of her grandfather, Viriato Vargas, to Rio de Janeiro, in 1940, until her candidacy for a federal deputy by the Brazilian Labor Party (PTB) in São Paulo in 1950. The objective is to understand how Ivete Vargas mobilized workers family resources, intellectual training and skills acquired in different spaces and activities, especially his performance as a journalist in the periodical Brasil-Portugal and in the National Institute of Political Science, to build a capital capable of enabling him to successfully enter the political career. To become a federal deputy at the age of 23, Ivete Vargas combined these previously acquired resources and skills, the social capital constituted from her grandfather's network of contacts and an active performance aiming at her own political rise - even seeking to narrow relations with his great-uncle, ex-president Getúlio Vargas. |
