Resumo: This article aims to study UCV-TV's television coverage of the 1970 Chilean presidential elections. For about a year, the television channel of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso broadcast in its news programs different aspects of the electoral process related to the extension of the right to vote; the electoral campaigns of Salvador Allende, Jorge Alessandri and Radomiro Tomic; the casting of votes in polling stations; the counting of votes and the payment of bets related to the results. Produced at a time when television was beginning to become widespread, these UCV-TV news reports allow us to analyze how the medium covered one of the most important elections in Chilean history, in which the Unidad Popular socialist project came to power by a narrow margin.
