Resumo: This article presents reflections about the meaning, exploration and use of the medieval forest. The text is divided into three parts. In the first, we will deal with the conceptions of medieval men about Nature. In the second, we will discuss the presence of the forest in everyday life. In the third part, we will address the control of the exploitation of forest areas in Iberian legal documents, especially the Ordenanzas de Ávila y su tierra.

El texto se divide en tres partes. En el primero nos ocuparemos de las concepciones de los hombres de la Naturaleza medievales. En el segundo, discutiremos la presencia del bosque en la vida cotidiana. En la tercera parte abordaremos el control de la explotación de superficies forestales en los documentos legales ibéricos, especialmente las Ordenanzas de Ávila y su tierra.O presente artigo apresenta reflexões sobre o sentido, a exploração e o aproveitamento da floresta ibérica medieval. O texto se divide em três partes. Na primeira, trataremos das concepções dos homens medievais de Natureza. Na segunda, discutiremos a presença da floresta na vida cotidiana.
