Resumo: Hegemony, intellectuals, the enlarged State, civil society and political society are some of the concepts present in the works of Antonio Gramsci (1891-1937) and which are found in a significant number of researches in the area of Social and Human Sciences. Antonio Gramsci's writings have been consecrated as a theoretical and methodological reference in Brazilian research, serving sometimes as an object of study, sometimes as a theoretical foundation. In the last decade, the use of his thinking as a research reference was resumed under the influence of the publication of the new Brazilian edition of his work which, between 1999 and 2002, had the merit of presenting an overview of his writings to the to make texts previously unpublished in Brazil accessible.

Os escritos de Antonio Gramsci tem se consagrado como um referencial teórico e metodológico nas pesquisas brasileiras, servindo ora de objeto de estudo, ora de fundamentação teórica.
